Rev. Toby Amodeo

Staff (Campus Director) || Trip Co-Leader

I’m originally from Middlebury, Connecticut. I moved to DC to study film / media and public health for undergrad at American University. After graduating, I served with Chi Alpha at NC State where I got the chance to hone his love for talking about Scripture with students. I’ve been back in DC for several years, and I love serving full-time with Chi Alpha at Georgetown University. This will be my second year leading and serving in Nice, France during Spring Break.

Marco Perez

Student || Trip Co-Leader

I’m a Senior majoring in International Politics and Security, with a minor in History and French! I’m from New York City and have been participating in Chi Alpha for the past two years. It’s been inspiring and great getting connected to a community of fellow faithful students on a vibrant campus such as Georgetown, and to uncover previously unexplored dimensions of my faith. This Spring Break, I’ll be traveling back to Nice, France with a team of Chi Alpha students to assist a local missionary in building a community of her own. I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the trip last year, and I'm hopeful to witness firsthand the effects and reverberations present a year later. I'm also very excited to be co-leading this even larger team with Toby, and to encourage our team to grow deeper as a community and serve our missionary partner as best we can.

The first time we went to France, God laid out the building blocks for strengthening the Nice Christian community. I’m excited to see how much work has been done since then and to work in His mission once more.

Courtney Brooks

Hello! I’m a Junior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Spanish. Over the past few years, I've been incredibly blessed to find a community of faithful people in Chi Alpha with whom I can learn, laugh, and grow at Georgetown. Now, I’m going to travel with a team of Chi Alpha students this Spring Break to Nice, France to support a local missionary in building faithful communities on university campuses in Nice. My hope is to encourage and be encouraged by missionaries abroad, to serve people's spiritual and physical needs, and to gain new skills and perspectives that help me serve others better when I return. I am thrilled to grow in my relationship with God and with this mission team, and I am thankful to have the opportunity to give back by helping students in Nice find their own communities of support, belonging, and joy.

Emmanuel C. Hernández

I'm Emmanuel Carrasco Hernández, a Public Policy Graduate student at Georgetown University, with roots in Mexico. My journey with Jesus has been transformative, leading to a recent and profound baptism that reaffirms my dedication to living out my faith. My heart is drawn to the mission trip because I resonate with the struggles of youth facing adversity. Being Mexican, I have a special connection with young individuals from diverse backgrounds and I have a fervent belief in Christ's power to alter their trajectories towards a hopeful future. I believe this experience will not only impact the lives of those we meet but also continue to shape my walk with Christ in a deeply meaningful way.

Christopher Edwards

I am a first-year at Georgetown University, hoping to study Government. Even since I was younger, I had a passion for helping and directing people, thus why I aspire to be a politician, where I would have the opportunity to make changes and lead people in a just direction. When I decided to commit my life to Jesus in 2021 right after my sixteen birthday, I soon learned that being Christ-like was serving people other than myself. This is why I want to visit Nice, France. I would like the opportunity to be a beacon of light in someone's light. In France, I hope to gain the experience of what it is like to be an international evangelist, meet new people, and spread the Word of God.

I am a senior at Georgetown University studying International Politics. I am from Fort Worth, Texas, and I enjoy ballet, singing and playing the guitar, and hanging out with friends. I am super excited to be going on a mission trip to Nice, France with DC Chi Alpha! It is transformational to be in a community that is following Jesus so whole-heartedly, and I hope that young adults in Nice will be able to see this and experience God's love through it. I was blessed enough to go on the mission trip last year, and I am looking forward to deepening the friendships we made, connecting with new people, and partnering with God in the work He is doing in Nice. Thank you so much for your prayers and support!

Rachel Li

I am a senior at Georgetown University studying Government and History. I am from Dallas, TX, and I love playing piano, going on runs to the DC monuments, and spending time with friends and my brother, who is a sophomore at Georgetown! I am greatly looking forward to joining the DC Chi Alpha mission trip in Nice, France! Growing up, I’ve been really inspired by my parents’ love for supporting missions, especially through my father’s service as a deacon of missions at our church before he became a pastor. At Georgetown, I’m really blessed to have been able to deeply grow in my faith among other caring believers in Chi Alpha who deeply love and closely follow Jesus. I hope through this trip, students in Nice will be able to experience God’s love through the service of our team. Thank you very much for your continued support and prayers!

Caroline Vail

Hi everyone! I am a senior from Charleston, SC studying Linguistics and Spanish & Portuguese Studies in Georgetown College. This is my third year serving as a student leader in Chi Alpha, and I currently lead a women’s Bible study on Tuesday nights alongside Tierra and Ella. Chi Alpha has been my spiritual community at Georgetown since an all-virtual freshman year, and I have been so grateful for the opportunity to help to grow the community as a student leader. I also had the opportunity to serve on the mission team to Nice last spring and was blessed to learn about the work that our missionary partner is doing daily to build Christian community in Nice and to build my own friendships with many of the young adults there. I am so excited about the chance to return to Nice this spring and see how the young adult ministry has grown in the past year thanks to the prayer and dedication of our missionary partner and the local church. Likewise, I look forward to building more lasting relationships and continuing to make connections between this work and our own efforts to grow the Chi Alpha community on Georgetown’s campus.

Tyler Van Andel

I am in my second year at Georgetown. One of the most meaningful parts of my Georgetown experience to this point has been the Christian community I have found on campus. I have felt supported in high and low moments over the past year and a half, and I am excited to share my experiences with the joys of Christian community to college students in Nice. Furthermore, this trip is going to be a formative experience for me and for the team as we work to build up the faith of those in France and are built up ourselves by their experience and belief.

I am a senior at Georgetown University studying English and psychology and minoring in math. It has made such a positive impact on my life to be in a community that is following Jesus together and living out our faith through missions. I’m excited to go back to Nice and continue investing in the relationships with our missionary partner and the young adults I met last Spring! Thank you for your prayers and support!

Katie Worden

I am excited to be on the Nice mission team for the second year now! Last year, we had the opportunity to partner with Nicole Herrero to support her as she expands the young adult ministry she has created. We built relationships with the young adults in the ministry, prayer walked and spoke to students on campuses, and supported local community missions. I look forward to building upon this foundation in the community this year and thank you all for making this possible!
