THE PROCESS

  1. Attend the Give-A-Year elective / breakout at Northeast Chi Alpha SALT Conference.

  2. Internal applications open on January 11th and close on February 15th. They will be available on this page.

    1. Note: An application is viewed as a commitment, should your application be approved.

  3. Attend Northeast Chi Alpha’s Support Raising Training Weekend in March / April. Dates are March 31 - April 2 (and usually involve being there all day on Friday). These are set by regional Chi Alpha.

  4. Attend Reach the University (RUI) in Springfield, MO in Summer 2022. Dates are July 9-15 and are set by national Chi Alpha.

  5. Support Raise from May 15 - July 31. This can typically be done from anywhere, but requires travel for face-to-face appointments. You will have a support-raising coach, but the summer is typically done remotely/independently.

  6. Begin on August 1 with a program end date of May 31.

Details:

  • All first year staff at DCXA at AU are required to live within 1 mile of American University from August 1-May 31. This is an internal policy.

  • This is a full-time commitment and job, including the summer of support-raising. Thus, the program typically starts on May 15 but by June 1 at the latest all other employment must cease.

  • Chi Alpha Campus Missionary Associates, your official title within AGUSM/AG and National Chi Alpha, are required to attend one local church and it is required to be an Assemblies of God church. Your team leader will assign you to one, after having a conversation as to your desires and needs. In DC, there are three Assemblies of God (AG) churches.

  • The monthly support-raising budget is $2,750 in monthly support with a cash budget (of one-time gifts) of $1,200.
